Charlee Brodsky’s documentary photographs made in the 1980s and 1990s in Homestead, Pennsylvania, are the best visual account we have of this steel town’s complete transition after the closing of the mills.
Here, the ground where the Homestead Steel Works formerly stood is vacant; since this photograph was made, even this central smokestack has now been torn down. The entire area is now a shopping district called The Waterfront.
